Hawai’i’s Safe Travels program considers fully vaccinated for COVID-19 when more than two weeks have passed since receiving the second dose in a two-dose series, or more than two weeks after one dose in a one-dose series.
Hawai’i’s Department of Health has adopted the recent CDC recommendations for the community to get a booster shot. This is a strong recommendation for visitors and residents, but a booster is not mandated for visiting Hawai'i.
The governor says any official change to Safe Travels is weeks away so people have ample notice and can adjust accordingly.
A booster is required to dine indoors on Maui if over age 16 for Pfizer and over 18 for Moderna vaccines. The booster requirement on Maui does not apply for entry to Maui or any other Hawaiian island.
Refresher
You can avoid the mandatory 5-day quarantine to enter Hawaii if you’re fully vaccinated. If you’re unvaccinated, you can complete a negative covid test 72 hours before your flight, 5 and over.
