Why Did They Drain This Lake?

The local river wave was the biggest I have ever seen it! Several large south swells and high tides dammed up the creak and created the largest mass of pooling water that I have seen in my lifetime. There was also an unusual monsoon rain in July that added to the mass of water. As soon as it started to overflow and hinder the public access to the beach, the county park rangers decided it was time to release all the water in to the ocean. While this process happens naturally and is not uncommon, it is rare to see County Park officials break the sand berm dam with shovels.
