The OCEAN - Learning to Surf, Renting a Boat, and Snorkeling (my Families Hawaiian Vacation pt 2)

There are two parts of Hawaii, well maybe three - the mountain, the ocean and the people. And when you come to Hawaii you should experience those three things. The culture and the majestic beauty of the land is not to be missed. My Tahoe and Colorado family have come out to vacation in Hawaii for their winter break. In the last video we tackled the Mauka or mountain side of Oahu - showing just how beautiful the hikes can be around Oahu. From waterfalls to jungle and Pill Boxes - the hiking can be world class.

But in today's vlog we take on the Makai (or ocean side) of Oahu. Beaches are beautiful - but the ocean is its own wilderness, its own adventure. If you're lucky she will open up her beauty and you might find not only beautiful fish and coral but sea turtles, sharks, dolphins and whales.

🪖 If you new to our channel, we are a military family stationed in Hawaii for the next few years. John, my husband, re-enlisted in the military after being out for ten years. Kind of crazy. But John was a Marine and he loved the Marines. Afghanistan Veteran. The only reason he got out was for me. Back before online jobs or school, he gave up the Marines and allowed me to start my career. I had an amazing career spending years growing and working with Target as a Store Director. But with Covid came many changes. One of those was the desire to stay home and homeschool Alexandra and Hailey. And so it opened the door for John to do whatever he wanted to do. He re-enlisted, but this time we both agreed the Army. After being out so long, John had to go through Basic training again or OSUT. Six months of that followed by waiting for command sponsorship for our first OCONUS move and the family has been apart for 10 months. Crazy considering this wasn't a deployment. But we made it! We are now stationed at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii for the next 2 to 3 years and feel truly blessed to be here!
