Sometimes you just can't go surfing / Winter in Hawaii Episode 120

One day its 80 degrees and hot and humid and the ocean is beautiful and inviting - next its 60 degrees, raining cats and dogs, and there is no way you could pay me to go into the ocean. John and I have been stationed here for 8 months or so and almost that entire time the weather has been very consistent. So consistent that your body really adapts to 85 degrees and when it's 79 it feels cold. But this week a storm system came in and just circled around the island. Dumping tons of rain- but also being freezing cold. At least to us.

In this episode we practice our pop up technique and tour Pyzel Surf Board company #pyzelsurfboards A local board manufacturer on the north shore that makes grom surf boards and really supports the kids!

πŸͺ– If you new to our channel, we are a military family stationed in Hawaii for the next few years. John, my husband, re-enlisted in the military after being out for ten years. Kind of crazy. But John was a Marine and he loved the Marines. Afghanistan Veteran. The only reason he got out was for me. Back before online jobs or school, he gave up the Marines and allowed me to start my career. I had an amazing career spending years growing and working with Target as a Store Director. But with Covid came many changes. One of those was the desire to stay home and homeschool Alexandra and Hailey. And so it opened the door for John to do whatever he wanted to do. He re-enlisted, but this time we both agreed the Army. After being out so long, John had to go through Basic training again or OSUT. Six months of that followed by waiting for command sponsorship for our first OCONUS move and the family has been apart for 10 months. Crazy considering this wasn't a deployment. But we made it! We are now stationed at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii for the next 2 to 3 years and feel truly blessed to be here!
