This view overlooks the mouth of iconic Waimea Bay, the site of the famous big wave surfing competition the Eddie Aikau. The period spanning from November to February stands out as the optimal window for witnessing large wave surfing. During these months, the waves can reach staggering heights, occasionally exceeding thirty feet, posing a significant risk even for seasoned surfers. It's crucial to always pay attention to warning signs. In contrast, from May to September, the waves mellow out, cultivating a more serene environment suitable for surfing and swimming.
