The San Diego surf came alive with a long-period SSW swell meeting a steady pulse of northwest energy, setting up some of the best surfing conditions of the season. Friday and Monday were the standout days — Friday favoring the canyon setups at Blacks Beach, and Monday lighting up the beach breaks up and down the coast with fun, rippable peaks.

Most of this footage was filmed at Black’s Beach, one of the most iconic and powerful surf spots in San Diego. The canyon was doing what it does best — amplifying long-period energy into heavy, running walls that make surfing Black’s Beach both epic. Early mornings brought glassy conditions and light offshore winds.

Meanwhile, Monday’s surf across San Diego’s open beach breaks was about as fun as it gets — chest-high to head high peaks, light texture, and just enough west in the mix to make it playful. Whether you were surfing Ocean Beach, Oceanside or any of the local zones between, it was one of those weeks where you couldn’t go wrong.

According to Surfline’s forecast, this was easily the best fall combo swell so far — a strong SSW pushing long-period lines into Southern California, mixing with shorter-period NW energy to create shape, size, and perfect surfable balance. Light wind, warm water, and peaky conditions made surfing in San Diego feel like it should in the heart of fall.
