Cooking show recipe:
A beautiful sunrise, but the pelagic bite was slow in the morning. It definitely picked up around the tide change at around 10am. Mahis are always welcomed, but there have been too many cut offs and lost fish recently. Going forward we are going to be running a wire a bit more often to chase some onos (wahoo). This may reduce the bite ratio, but should increase the fish landed and should help getting snipped off by those onos.

For information on participating in the Mahi study, email Keith Kamikawa ([email protected]) and Nan Himmelsbach ([email protected]). Please send other inquiries and questions to [email protected].
New Merch!!! I don’t really aim to make money on the merchandise, it’s more to just have something for anyone who would like a shirt, mug, etc. Check it out on TeePublic at http://tee.pub/lic/pnZm8TcpqEI

Damashi: Homemade using line between 12-16lb, typically J-Flouro Samurai. I typically tie my own flies. When using lures, I like Tylah lures or CHL Nox Minnows, both I set up with gold hooks and a red bead which I find to be very effective and highly recommend them. (Tylahlures.com and chlures.com and check out my buddy (Geronimo Angeles | Facebook) for those BiteLytes!

Note: I link the amazon links for ease of finding products and ease or purchase/delivery, but I highly recommend shopping at your local fishing stores and support them (like www.hawaiinearshorefishing.com or www.hifishgear.com).
