Mahalo for all that you have contributed to help our neighbors and loved ones rebuild their lives after the fatally devastating fires in Maui last month.

Maui LFG (Let's Fill the Gap) was in the process of being established as a 501(c)(3) by Maui residents John Patrick Morgan and my father Eric West. However due to the extended time it was taking for the State of Hawaii to return the paperwork it was deemed more important to release the funds now to existing 501(c)(3)’s

The organizations that we selected are long established local charities that were the first responders to this crisis. Many have already provided direct cash contributions to survivors of the fire. Each has agreed in writing to pass the money from the LahainaFireFund directly to those individuals and families who have been most impacted by the fire. We are all keeping receipts and records of dollars spent so that your donations are fully accounted for throughout this period of relief and rebuilding.

To date, $13,775.02 raised on this GoFundMe as been used to purchase and distribute Starlink broadband internet system units along with lithium generators and basic needs like food, water, clothes, baby supplies, toiletries, gas, and siphoning kits, which we've gotten to distribution centers and directly in the hands of victims in need.

We are in the process of delivering $24,200 to individuals called out by donors in the “808 Club”

To date, $750,000 raised on this GoFundMe has been donated to these faith-based and community-led organizations to be shared with families impacted by the fires.

Faith Family Maui
Grace Bible Maui
Malama Lahaina / Kingdom Of Akua Foundation
Calvary Chapel Westside
Citizen Church
Lahaina United Methodist Church

We will continue to post updates on this public GoFundMe page to show how your donations are impacting the Lahaina community.

Since we reached our goal we have decided to stop accepting donations on this GoFundMe page and we will focus on getting the rest of the money out to the community,

There are still plenty of ways to get money directly to people in need. Our fundraiser and other verified GoFundMe fundraisers are all listed on this centralized hub: https://www.gofundme.com/c/act/wildfire-relief/maui

You can be confident that any fundraiser here is verified and that donations will go to a person in need.

You can also donate to the Wildfire 2023 Relief Fund (https://www.gofundme.com/f/wildfire-2023-relief-fund) All funds raised here goes to GoFundMe.Org, which then makes grants to other verified victims in need. So if you cannot pick one fundraiser to support, this is a good option to ensure your donation gets in the hands of someone in need.

We are going to continue to post updates on this GoFundMe so that you can see the impact your contributions have made on helping our community.

Thank you so much for your continued support for this fundraiser and the work we are doing to help those who lost everything to these devastating fires.

Mahalo,

Colton West, John Morgan and the West Family
