The Museum's newest acquisition, a rare WWII "Val" Dive Bomber has arrived at Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum. Watch as our restoration team carefully unload parts of this historic aircraft into Hangar 79.
Only a handful of Vals have survived destruction in combat or the inevitable ravages of time and nature, making this acquisition and restoration project an incredibly rare and exciting opportunity for the Museum!
Our restoration team will assemble the aircraft from the recovered sections of at least two, and perhaps more Vals, abandoned in shrapnel riddled revetments beside a heavily bombed airstrip. Stay tuned for updates as we restore this aircraft and uncover its history.
Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum still needs your help to complete a one-of-a-kind exhibit featuring this "Val" Dive Bomber. In doing so, you will help us share the battle, the impact of the attack on Pearl Harbor, and the amazing courage of those who instinctively flew into action to defend each other, Pearl Harbor, and our country.
With your support, for the first time anywhere in the country, all three of the Japanese aircraft types used in combat at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 - the Zero, Kate and Val - will be on display in one location - Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum, located on Naval Air Station Pearl Harbor, America's WWII aviation battlefield. Please help us complete this special exhibit featuring the attacking and defending aircraft that will be displayed inside an authentic World War II hangar that withstood the 1941 attack.
